Our Commitment
At Unity Combat Academy, the safety, welfare and wellbeing of every child, young person and vulnerable adult is our highest priority.
We are committed to providing a safe, positive and inclusive environment where every student can develop confidence, discipline, respect and life skills through martial arts.
All instructors, coaches, volunteers and staff share responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of everyone attending our academy.
Our Safeguarding Principles
Unity Combat Academy is committed to:
- Providing a safe and welcoming training environment.
- Protecting children and vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect, bullying and exploitation.
- Promoting respect, equality and inclusion.
- Listening to concerns raised by students or parents.
- Responding promptly to safeguarding concerns.
- Working alongside parents, schools, local authorities and safeguarding agencies where appropriate.
- Following the safeguarding guidance issued by the British Martial Arts & Boxing Association (BMABA).

The Designated Safeguarding Lead is responsible for:
- Receiving safeguarding concerns.
- Maintaining confidential safeguarding records.
- Liaising with parents and relevant authorities where necessary.
- Ensuring staff understand safeguarding responsibilities.
- Keeping safeguarding policies up to date.
If You Have a Concern
If you have concerns regarding the safety or welfare of any child, young person or vulnerable adult attending Unity Combat Academy, please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead immediately.
All concerns will be:
- Taken seriously
- Recorded confidentially
- Investigated appropriately
- Reported to relevant safeguarding authorities where required
Code of Conduct
All instructors and students are expected to:
- Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
- Use appropriate language and behaviour.
- Never tolerate bullying or discrimination.
- Maintain appropriate physical boundaries.
- Report inappropriate behaviour immediately.
- Respect privacy and confidentiality.
Photography & Social Media
Unity Combat Academy only uses photographs or videos of students with appropriate parental or participant consent.
Images are used responsibly for academy promotion and will never place a child at unnecessary risk.

Reporting Procedure
Any safeguarding concern should be reported immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Where a child or vulnerable adult is believed to be at immediate risk of harm, emergency services should be contacted without delay.
